Candied Maple Bourbon Turkey Bacon
Ingredients
- 10 slices turkey bacon
- 1 c brown sugar
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 2 tbsp bourbon
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
Directions
Prepare the grill or oven to cook indirect at 350°F. Use a little apple wood for flavor if you are cooking on the grill.
Spray a baking sheet with vegetable spray. Lay the turkey bacon slices on the sheet in a single layer.
In a medium bowl, combine the brown sugar, maple syrup, bourbon and cayenne if you’re using it. Mix well until combined. Spoon the mixture over the bacon dividing it evenly among the slices. With the back of the spoon or a brush spread it evenly.
Place on the grill or in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes until the bacon is browned and caramelized. Remove from the grill/oven and let cool for 5 minutes. Transfer the bacon to a plate and drizzle the syrup from the pan over the top.
Serve immediately warm, or let cool and serve at room temp.
